IEC 62386-203 pdf download Digital addressable lighting interface – Part 203: Particular requirements for control gear – Discharge lamps (excluding fluorescent lamps) (device type 2)
1 Scope
This International Standard specifies a protocol and test procedures for the control ofelectronic control gear by digital signals used on a.c. or d.c. supplies, associated withdischarge lamps (excluding fluorescent lamps).
NOTE Tests in this standard are type tests.Requirements for testing individual control gear during production arenot included.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in Clause 3 of lEC 62386-101:2009 and Clause 3 of lEC 62386-102:2009 apply, with the following additional terms anddefinitions.
3.1
lamp cycling
periodic igniting and extinguishing of the lamp
3.2
lamp failure
lamp parameter outside of the tolerances for the normal lamp operation
NOTE The number of attempts to ignite the lamp parameter before final switching off is control gear dependent.3.3
run-up time
time which the system of control gear and lamp(s) needs to set the lamp output power to itsnominal lamp power value after switching on the lamp
3.4
waiting for ignition
control gear status with ignition function maximal up to the ignition time out without lampignition
3.5
ignition time out
status of the control gear after an inefficient ignition time
NOTE The time is specified by the control gear manufacturer.
3.6
arc power at requested value
lamp(s) status with the requested arc power
4 General
The requirements of Clause 4 of IEC 62386-1 01 :2009 and Clause 4 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply.
5 Electrical specifications
The requirements of Clause 5 of IEC 62386-1 01 :2009 and Clause 5 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply.
6 Interface power supply
The requirements of Clause 6 of IEC 62386-1 01 :2009 and Clause 6 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply, if a power supply is integrated with the control gear.
7 Transmission protocol structure
The requirements of Clause 7 of IEC 62386-1 01 :2009 and Clause 7 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply.
8 Timing
The requirements of Clause 8 of IEC 62386-1 01 :2009 and Clause 8 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply.
9 Method of operation
The requirements of Clause 9 of IEC 62386-1 01 :2009 and Clause 9 of IEC 62386-1 02:2009 apply with the following exceptions:
Addition to Clause 9 of IEC 62386-102:2009:
9.9 Arc power at requested value versus fade running
If a new arc power level is requested from a stable arc power level situation, the “Fade Running” bit indicates fading from the stable arc power level to the newly requested power level.
If the fading has been finished and the new arc power level has been reached the “Arc Power At Requested Value” bit indicates whether the arc power is also at the desired value.
